eFootball 2022 – Release Date, Master League, PES?

eFootball 2022 is Konami’s latest football video game. It will be a free-to-play game from the beginning, marking the first time in the series it has been.

Here’s everything you need to about eFootball 2022.

Release Time

eFootball will release on 30 September 2021. It will feature on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and on mobile devices.

According to Konami the release time for eFootball 2022 is 00:00 BST on September 30. This is also backed up by details on the Steam page.

However, one tweet from play_eFootball suggested fans will have to wait until 17:30 BST on the same day. Fortunately it looks like it will be the former time.

Download Size

Steam states that the system requirements for eFootball 2022 are 50GB of space. Reports on Twitter suggested the PS4 and PS5 size will be similar.

Will there be a PES 2022?

The PES series has been rebranded to eFootball. That means eFootball 2022 is essentially what the PES 2022 game would have been.

While in name there will be no more PES games, Konami are still the developers and publishers of eFootball. Therefore, Pro Evolution Soccer fans can continue to enjoy the PES series through eFootball.

eFootball 2022 Teams and Modes

The release of eFootball 2022 will be somewhat iterative. Gamers will be able to experience the “All-New Game Engine” on Day 1 but there will be just a couple of modes which are as follows:

  • Local matches
  • Online matches

On release the teams available to play with on eFootball 2022 are Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Man Utd, Arsenal, Corinthians, Flamengo, Sao Paulo and River Plate.

Will eFootball 2022 have Master League?

There won’t be a Master League in eFootball 2022 when the game first releases. However, it has been confirmed Master League will be available in the future.

It looks unlikely Master League Online will make a return, though. In a FAQ on the Konami website, Master League is described as an offline mode.

Creative Team – myClub

An online Team Building Mode has long been confirmed for Konami’s Autumn update on eFootball 2022.

Details in their road map graphics simply “Name TBC” but other pages are now referring to it as “Creative Team”. Consequently, it looks like myClub will now be called Creative Team.

Here’s everything we know about eFootball 2022 Creative Team so far.

eFootball 2022 Road Map

A specific release date for both the Autumn and Winter eFootball 2022 updates has yet to be announced.

Autumn Update

In addition to Creative Team, the following will also be added in the Autumn update:

  • Online Leagues (name TBC)
  • PC will be added to cross-platform matches
  • Match Pass System
    • It looks like there will be a free and premium version of this where rewards are naturally better for the latter

Winter Update

There has also be a Winter Update for eFootball 2022. The following has been announced:

  • eSports tournaments kick-off
  • Mobile (iOS and Android) added to cross-platform matches
  • Mobile controller support

Furthermore, the ever-popular Edit Mode will also be added in a subsequent update after the initial release.

Next-gen Graphics PC, PS5, Xbox Series X

Konami have confirmed that eFootball 2022 will make the most next-gen consoles and PC. Presumably this means the graphics will be better than in any PES game we’ve seen to date.

As a result, we can expect to see these platforms running the game at a minimum of 4K 60 FPS. There’s also the possibility it could run at 120 FPS. This is purely speculative at this stage though, and you’d need a monitor/TV with a 120Hz panel.
